What is Sharktoberfest?

Sharktoberfest is a car event by and for Porsche 928 enthusiasts, welcoming all owners and those interested in this very special GT car. Once a year, the Sharktoberfest gathering is held in late October over 3 days, typically spanning the third weekend. The first Sharktoberfest event was put together back in 2003 at the suggestion of John Veninger and is a continuation of early efforts by Mark Anderson at 928 International to gather owners together nearly 10 years earlier.

On Friday evening, an informal gathering is usually held at or near the host hotel to welcome attendees. Saturday's main event takes place on the premises of 928 International, the leading supplier of new and used 928 parts. The Saturday program often consists of a large, day-long social gathering during which a variety of activities are scheduled, including informative technical sessions, presentations, special 928 displays and more. While an excellent barbecue lunch is provided on Saturday, the group also gathers for a group dinner the night of the main event during which giveaways and other prizes are awarded.

On Sunday, anything goes, including group drives on some of Southern California's most interesting driving roads. Other Sunday programs have included visits to local museums and even private car collections.

There's no need to "go it alone" with your 928 ownership experience these days. There is a wealth of information available and active owner communities that can help you get more out of owning a 928. Past Sharktoberfests have drawn upwards of 150 cars and 200 participants, so make plans to join us for the sheer spectacle of it all!
